Michèle Phoenix is an international writer with multi-cultural sensitivities, having been born in France to an American mother and a Canadian father.
A graduate of Wheaton College, she taught writing, music, and theater at the boarding school for missionaries' children she attended as a teenager. With a background in screenwriting, Michèle soon turned her attention to novel writing. Disillusioned with the process of traditional publishing, she decided to try her hand at self-publishing. It wasn’t easy and it wasn’t cheap, but it got her novels into the hands of readers, and she was satisfied with that. Then in early 2011, after years of self-publishing, Michèle had the opportunity to leave her manuscript for Tangled Ashes in the hands of a Tyndale House editor. As it turns out, Tyndale decided to publish not one, but two of her novels: Tangled Ashes and In Broken Places. In 2013, Tangled Ashes was nominated for a Christy Award. Michèle currently works for Global Outreach Mission as an advocate for Third Culture Kids, helping them transition back into North American culture and educating stateside churches and missions about the special needs of this people group. Michèle lives in Wheaton, Illinois. Shop for Michèle Phoenix novels at
